Great thread Leon! Although pretty much any card puts a smile on my face haha. It’s very cool to see how certain cards connect with people for all kinds of different reasons. There are plenty of funny ones (the Donnelly T206 with Hulk Hands and the more modern Jay Johnstone 84 Fleer “Budweiser hat” come to mind), but most of the ones that make me smile are not humorous.
Two that really stand out are T206’s… the Camnitz (arms crossed) and the Solly Hoffman. Camnitz grew up in Covington, KY which is basically Cincinnati and about one mile from where I live. The card to me though just puts you back to that era more so than any other T206, or pre-war card period for that matter... Tough guys through and through even when playing a child’s game and not making millions show for it. The Hoffman, to me, is maybe the most beautiful card ever made and again just looking at it takes me back to that time, or at least the way I envision it.
Some honorable mentions include the T202 “Just Before the Battle”, the 38 Goudey Jimmie Foxx (the only mlb smile to rival Foxx in that card are early Griffey Jr cards), another T202 with Speaker/Wood (such a cool image of Joe Wood), and pretty much any of the Boston Garter’s.
