Favorite complimentary pieces
I had some fun today as I finally got around to using 2 pickups from this years National in Cleveland to create some fun photo displays.
The first is a 1938 Johnny Vander Meer 1st no-hitter display that I used an early vintage Redland Field/ Crosley Field seat from the National and other pieces from my Vandy collection. Vandy endorsed Goldsmith glove, 1938 photo of him pitching, hand painted Vandy signed ball and a NY June 1938 standup calendar.
In 1941, St. Louis RHP Lon Warneke pitched a no-hitter at Crosley Field.
At the National, I was able to pick up a great Warneke pop up advertising piece that commemorated his no-hitter on 8/30/41. This display is accompanied by a full ticket to his no-hitter, a JC Penny promo piece that accompanied a Lon Warneke ball, a great period action photo of Warneke and a vintage fountain pen index card.
Happy holidays to everyone on net54!
