Up for sale is an unique 1938-39 original photo of Monte Irvin with two of his Lincoln University basketball teammates. Yes, these are the basketball team warm-up suits...they aren't going to the moon. The photo is 3.5"x4.25". I bought it many years ago through Heritage Auctions (along with many other Monte Irvin items) and it came with a letter of provenance from Monte's daughter.
This is probably the earliest known image of Irvin in a sports uniform, although not baseball.
These same outfits along with these two teammates (and Irvin) were identified and named specifically in the Lincoln University yearbook (1939 / page 61). See below:
