I totally understand the theory, but it annoys the heck out of me, especially when it's done almost every pitch outside of strike zone. I see catcher's do it even when ball is six inches out. It probably works once in awhile, but I'd bet it ticks umps off more often. Oh, and umps don't like to be ticked of ..................
