Default FS: JOHNNY KLING Autographed Letter 1907 & 1908 Champion Cubs Died-1947

JOHNNY KLING Full page typed letter dated 11/26/1910 and written on the letterhead of "Kling's Billiard Parlors". Measures 8 1/2 x 11. Great content written to Goldsmith sporting goods regarding the acquisition of a catcher's mitt. Letter is now well over 100 years old and has some fraying on top corners as paper is brittle. American professional baseball player and manager. He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher from 1900 to 1913, most prominently as a member of the Chicago Cubs teams that won four National League pennants and two World Series championships between 1907 and 1910. He also played for the Boston Braves / Rustlers and the Cincinnati Reds. A possible future Hall of famer based on his defensive abilities as a catcher he is considered to be one of the best of the dead ball era. Unique association item as he was also considered one of the most accomplished billiards players of his day. after several salary disputes with the Cubs he continued to compete in pool, winning the world billiards championship, He sat out the entire 1909 season, and in early October competed against Charles "Cowboy" Weston and won the world's championship of pool. He died in 1947. $475.00
