This post gives me a good excuse to show the 1933 Goudey of Paul Richards. No bold sky colors, not my card, and I know it has been shown previously nine years ago, but that was so nine years ago, and I love the image which captures such a serene, commonplace baseball scene (based upon an actual photograph of Richards, which a member has shown on here before), as well as the artistic use of the converging lines of perspective with the baselines, grass, and the field level grandstands.

It is a fantastic card, sir. This one, and Lou Gehrig, are among the best cards ever in terms of artistry, IMO, from one of the greatest sets ever. I have often wondered what compelled Goudey to change and practically disappear after 1934.
