The transfer portal has completely divorced football from the "imaginary" value of a football player benefitting from a college degree. College football is no longer amateur. The schools like the money as much as the players.
I do like the teams shifting to more competitive conferences and have thought for several years that the British system or relegation in their football leagues would provide more competitive games that would be superior to the 77-0 cream puff blowouts. It looks like that may be where we are heading.
