There was a thread about this a while back. We don't exactly know the reason why though. Could have had something to do with Licensing rights. Gehrig did have a card in 36. It's his World Wide Gum Card which is exceedingly rare, but technically falls under the umbrella of Goudey. I'll link a heritage listing below of the cards front and back
