I would imagine what happened here was the pennant maker was keen on making these for the new San Diego marketplace; but, was unaware at the time of production what the team's
new logo would look like. Hence, the text within tail-end was appropriately updated; but the logo on the head-end was recycled from the previous 1960 season. This hybrid was probably their best option....
So, I don't think "San Diego" was added after-the-fact to update the pennant. I suspect this may have been a bootleg pennant that was briefly sold at some civic gathering in San Diego welcoming the new team?

It's a cool pennant and I was unaware of one like it. Are there more out there for AFL teams like this? Dallas Texans? New York Titans?
