On a somewhat related note . . . .

Why do guys run (jog quickly?) to first on an obvious foul ball pop up?

Isn't that just dumb? Just stand in the batters box and see what happens.

I'm all for a nice brisk trip to first on an infield fly, but on a ball in front of the dugout it just seems stooopid.
