My Gowdy isn’t a Nap. (but it is an Anon.3
), so no help there.
I only have a handful of Naps. and none have the “Recruit Swoop.”
Also, very much YES – The last “N” is definitely “shaved” (for lack of a better term) on right side.
Here is a “normal” Nap. Back. For comparison:

So it would make sense (at least to me
) that the “swoop” was printed first. Then the printers realized it, and removed it, causing the “shaved N.”
BUT --- why just Gowdy ?????!!!!! One time / one sheet / first run of Nap. Backs and he was the random front ?? That’s all I can think of ……
