Mantle, Rizzuto and Munson debut programs
Currently in the May elite auction that started on Friday I have consigned a 1951 Mantle Debut program / scorecard. This is the version with Eugene Markland listed in the 8 spot. Great program. A 1941 Opening day Yankees at Washington with the debut of Phil Rizzuto. And a 1969 Yankee program from Thurman Munsons debut. Munson was called up for a 4 game series vs The A's and he debuted in the second game of a Doubleheader. This program unscored but is signed on the back By Mrs. Jack Acker ( Starting pitcher for game 1) Mrs Bill Robinson ( only game he played in 4 game series is game 1 of Doubleheader) Mrs Steve Hamilton And Mrs Frank Messer ( announcer ). So not proof but high probability this program was sold day of Munsons debut and that all four wives were there to witness debut of on of the best catchers Yankees ever had.
