You do not need to email PSA to complete the process -- and no need to wait days. When you send the removal request, i.e., attempt to add a card to your registry that is currently in another's, the system "opens" the request on your registry dashboard. You will see each under "Removal Requests Sent." You then can upload the scans to that specific request to complete [your part] of the process. Then it might take PSA a couple days to finalize. It is also possible that, in the meantime, the prior owner will remove the card from his/her registry.

I usually wait a few days if I don't have scans handy (or forget) but no need to email PSA. You can do it as stated above.
