Soaking could work to get some of the glue off.

I might try warm, distilled water on a Q tip, then gently touch those areas to see if some will come off that way. It seems less invsasive. I have done it before on bigger blobs and it's worked. Soaking sometimes slightly discolors the whites on the cards, in my few experiences.

This is one of those Trucker Boy find cards (Google it) that boomeranged back to me. I forget if I soaked this one, but I remember getting an edge of a paper remnant to come up, then peeled off the paper that was on the back. I used warm distilled water and a Qtip. The blob on back was half the size of a dime...
