A cautionary tale on historical pricing on rare stuff... I started collecting WG1 game cards a few years ago and have a handful now. I got this Nash in Hakes for $389 and someone else won the Bassett in a 5 holder for $392.

I won with my marker bid and was underbidder with my marker bid. I missed the last day of the auction and could not bid. I would have gone higher on Bassett. The cards sold for almost the same price even though the Bassett is in much nicer condition. I guess I could say Nash was a better player, but not by a whole lot.
