Mel Allen Notecards Yankee Stadium 25th - Babe Ruth Last Time - Ruth Collection
Last one for today. Do not want to spam up the category.
Mel Allen used these notecards for his on field introduction of the players who were brought back to Yankee Stadium on June 13 1948. The cards were then mounted onto a construction paper type of backing and given to Babe's widow upon his passing. They stayed in the family until his estate hit the auction block after the passing of Claire his widow. These were part of that estate auction.
That day was the last time Ruth would appear in Yankee Stadium in uniform. His number was also retired by the Yankees on that day. The famous photo "The Babe Bows Out" was taken at the event.
Players introduced included a who's who of players from the championship teams of the 20's 30's and 40's.
Want these to go to a good home and am willing to part with it at no profit to myself.
