In Other news…….
A note about the post-auction immediate period….I will be on a consignment trip through New Jersey to Boston to Akron and home beginning on 10/31 and arriving home 11/6. The week following the auction, I will not be able to fulfill any shipping responsibilities but I will get immediately on that on 11/6 and hope to quickly fill orders ASAP. The timing is not ideal but it allows me to pick up a significant amount of items for future auctions. I will also be setting up at the GBSCC show in Boston on November 3, 4 and 5. Please stop by to see me if you attend the show regularly. In addition, there’s opportunities if you are in New Jersey, Connecticut or Boston areas or Akron/Cleveland for consignment pickups. Please email me if you are interested so we can discuss this prior to the trip.
Another issue to be aware of is a likely increase in buyer’s premium that will take place beginning with the February 2024 auction. We will be going from 19% buyer’s premium to a 21% buyer’s premium. There will continue to be a 3% discount for check, money order, Zelle or wire transfers. We’ve held our 19% premium steady for 5 years but additional expenses dictate that we increase this to continue to offer the best non-sports auction material extant.
Finally, while non-sports is our bread and butter, we will be offering an all-sports auction in of March 2024. This auction will fall between the February and June auctions and, for now, be a yearly auction. In addition to the sports auction, we will also have an August “Graded Set Builder’s” auction, offering PSA, SGC and other graded cards in a one card per lot format for people building graded sets at all levels. We are accepting consignments now for all auctions in the upcoming year. We have a number of sports items already committed including many 19th and 20th century tobacco cards as well as what will be strong offerings for the boxing category.
