The Bobby Bonilla thing is funny but that is deferred money (so teams free up money in the present to spend on other players) and they pay later but some are extreme long deferment and with interest it really adds up. His I think was a 6.6 million dollar deferment and they started paying 10 years later with interest accruing from day 1.
