It helped grow my fascination of riding bikes to the "Quik Stop" on the corner of my small town to buy more cards. I now have that card in a PSA 10 for memories, but even better I still have that worthless card. So glad I never tossed it as a teen for being worthless and I am keeping it forever.

Thanks for being an important seed for my hobby growth Vida, I appreciate it.
Ah, the wicker basket of cards at the local yard sale find. Nice. Justin's find sparked me thinking about the cards of my youth. The big card collecting years of my childhood were 1971, 1972 and 1973. Some of the cards that stuck in my memory.

1. Someone on the playground had the 1971 Brooks Robinson WS card, "B. Robinson commits robbery!" That image has stuck with me to this day. I eventually added the card to the collection.

2. Sticking with 1971, the Thurman Munson card. What a great action shot. In little league, on game day, I was usually behind the plate, so I had an affinity for cards of catchers. Plus, any card with the gold trophy on the front was deemed better than any other card and was super cool! I kick myself for not picking up this card when it sold for around $100 (PSA 7). Now, a PSA 7 card averages about $750. Some day.

3. The 1973, Gene Tenace card. I just liked the phrase "Tenace the Menace"
The seniors out there, should know the reference. I have yet to pick up this card, but I will.

Which cards from your youth, when the value of the card did not matter do you vividly remember?
