They would keep the Serif font at base for the following year’s E121 Series of 120 set.
Also, it should be noted that only a few cards have been found with the Type 4 back and Hornsby is bot among them. Also, i have seen multiple of most of the players with the Type 4 back so it is most likely that the Type 4 back is simply a subset of Type 1 and only affected a few players on a sheet or something.

Thanks for the clarification Rhett, hard to keep them straight even with a scorecard. Not PSA's best day when they stabbed this one.
Can you shed any light on the 2B/outfield designation on the front? Was 2B on one Type and Outfield on another?
