FS: Circa 1904 mounted photo of New York Giants pitcher Red Ames. The photo originates from the Ames estate, with a notation in ink on the reverse stating "Ames/1907", but this was 100% taken at spring training in Savannah, GA between 1903 and 1905. My best guess, given the uniform and knowledge of other photos taken in Savannah during these years, that this is 1904, very early in Ames' career.
Overall condition is good. Slight fading to photo; tiny divot in photo at right edge; and some waterstaining on reverse. Ink notation on reverse, as well as two small ID notations in pencil.
Mount size is 6" x 5".
I've had a handful of Ames photos over the years and this one is easily the best and the earliest.
