It's hard to value anything rare that hasn't sold in the past year or so. The entire vintage market has escalated even if it's cooled in some areas.
Getting a gauge on the current value of a 54 Ernie Banks or a 33 Goudey Ruth in any almost any condition except the best is easy, but you got a rare card of a highly collected player in a still hot vintage market.
If you find the right eyeballs with the right wallets in the right place and time things can get fun. You never know when you're going to luck into a weird bidding war as a seller.
