In the Good and Services transaction overview, there's a section to manually input the tracking number of your package. It's easy to overlook, but I suggest you do that if you have concerns about your transaction.

That's the best way to protect yourself.

Package says it's been delivered, that's about the best you can do on any platform to protect yourself. That and the hint of legal action or "filing a stolen package report" with the police, if they threaten to stiff you on a package that shows as "delivered".

I've had Ebay back me up before when a package has shown as delivered.

Odd thing is, I have websites, occasionally sell on Net54 and have probably had thousands of non-Ebay Paypal transactions over the years, and I don't think I've ever had anybody test me on a package that has shown as delivered outside of Ebay (fingers crossed), to even know how Paypal would deal with something like that.
