Yes. The Twins knew they had a gem in Oliva and brought him along at just the right pace. They had Oliva and Jimmie Hall in their system and brought Hall up in 1963. He had a great year, beating Ted William's record for home runs by a rookie. With the extra year of experience in the Minors, Oliva then came up in 1964 and won the batting title, and again the next year too.
