Like Leon I have never seen the counter associated with the cards. Typically the Lajoie cards are found in nicer condition, as your cards certainly look like some kids enjoyed the actual game. I would think Leon is fairly accurate on the pricing, though these days you never know if they might just fetch more per card.
I have never heard of anyone pursuing the different fronts (the backs of the cards all have the same Lajoie photo, either in blue or red). I would assume an intact set of the cards would give you all the different fronts. I have not heard of any variations in the fronts either. In fact no one ever seems to mention the fronts at all.
Many years ago I bought a group lot of these Lajoie Game cards, and when I received them I also got a note from the seller indicating (there was no mention of it in the lot description) that he had found them while dumpster diving twenty years or so prior. They were also in somewhat rough condition as well. Here is a scan of a few of them, which happen to be from the red set.
