Great Net54er
In January I made a post that I had finally made the decision to tackle T206s. I know everyone collects this set differently. I am tackling the set my own way. I'm shooting for beat up commons with common backs, 361 of them.
A fellow board member reached out to me. He stated that he had a lot that fit my per card price point. There were 33 cards in the lot with duplicates. While I'm not looking for upgrades or dups, however this seemed like a great opportunity to pick up some future trade bait. Hell, it was my birthday when he reached out so a few days later I pulled the trigger.
Here's where the story gets interesting. The seller emails me to give him a call. I ring him, curiously. I'm told that a grave error was made on his part. He went on to explain. The Mullin Piedmont 350 Factory 25 is really rare and part of the Elite 11/12. He said that he was honoring our deal and to not put him in my binder. I was blown away. We chatted a while. Seems like a really great guy and I feel as if I've made a great new collecting friend.
I can't give John Wondowski, aka wondo, enough props for him being a valuable asset to our wonderful community. I actually made a similar error the following day. I ended up selling a 77/78 Topps basketball set I had laying around. Gave him a price and when I looked at the set, I knew I had quoted incorrectly. Paid my fortune/error forward, and honored my word. Huge respect for John. Thanks buddy, mentor and friend. BTW, I sure hope you make it to Iowa someday so I can take you to an ICubs game. You're all welcome anytime to join me at a game. Only difference, John get free beers.
Cheers Craig
