Whiting Box Company acquired the Climax Box Company in 1885. The reference to "Climax" has nothing to do with the tobacco company but instead the Climax Cigarette Box company.
Early Old Judge pack slides note "Cigarette Boxes, Patented . . ." while at some point in late 1887 or early 1888 they changed to "CLIMAX CIGARETTE BOX Patented . . ."

I like the 1888 packs, those dating before November feature the "Base Ball Notice". Joe's example is nice, the starting bid would set a record price but wish him luck, glad I already have an 1888 example.
