The short answer is "YES" it's a problem

I live in Closter (a northern New Jersey town roughly 18 miles from Teterboro) and most of my mail comes through that USPS facility and can tell you it wasn't always that bad. My local USPS agents say that the problem is a combination of the Ida damage, dramatically-increased package shipping volumes since the onset of Covid, and personnel issues (as in not enough people).

I have no way to gauge the period-to-period performance of flat mail delivery (i am guessing it is relatively unchanged), but I can attest to the claim on packages. My latest example is below. It is a UPS Mail Innovations delivery whereby UPS handles the long-haul piece and USPS handles the customer delivery. Maybe I'll get it next week; maybe not.
