One really neat thing about photos like these is that you never know what you might find when you dig deeper into who is portrayed. Thanks to an astute collector, I have discovered two other players depicted who have very interesting stories.

In the top row, second from the left, is Bill Morrisette. He came from Baltimore in the International League, where the manager and owner was Bill Dunn. Of course, Dunn is most famous for “discovering” Babe Ruth at St. Mary’s and signing him to his Baltimore team. Morrisette, also considered a Dunn prize, pitched for Mt. Saint Joseph, also in Baltimore. The first game Babe Ruth got newspaper attention for was when he was at St. Mary's and pitched against Morrisette. Ruth won, 6-0.

Also in the back row, third from the right, is Al Schacht. Schacht later pitched a few years for the Washington Senators, but is far better known for becoming “The Clown Prince of Baseball.”

In the immortal words of Paul Harvey, “And now you know the rest of the story.”

Oh, and the lot of photos is still a available
Offers considered.
