Actually, that was true of everything but baseball for a time. One of the stupidest things I ever did financially speaking was trading a big box of football cards for a 1941 Play Ball Whit Wyatt. But at the time the FB cards were worth $0.10-$0.25 each and the Wyatt was several dollars.
Speaking of which, let's also go with all-time dumbest trades you made. Besides that one:
--PC796 Plank for CJ Plank. Wanted a CJ and besides, those PCs are never gonna be worth much. D'oh! Every time I see a PC796 Plank sell I throw up a little in my mouth.
--1964 Mays and 1965 Mantle for a half dozen minor HOFers the best of which was a 1966 Cepeda. In fairness to me I was about 8 years old and got ripped off by a shark of an older kid. It was the sort of trade your parents might undo for you if they found out about it because the older boy took such advantage.
