It's amazing how accommodating players could be back then. I recall hearing a story from a guy who was a kid in Milwaukee in the 50s. One day, he and a buddy decided to stop by Hank Aaron's house and get his autograph, completely unannounced. He said Hank was gracious, and his wife invited the kids in for milk and cookies.
As for Milt, I find even the more obscure players from the 50s worth collecting — I try to get one of each. Here's the one card I have of him ...
