David--I love that photo! Making it even better is that he signed in green, which would be a perfect compliment to a trademark green Cobb autograph. Nice to see Crawford as an older gentleman.

I'll definitely have to find a copy of this book. Larry Ritter taught us a little about Crawford as a person, not just a ballplayer. This aspect is what has most fascinated me. Crawford was a voracious reader and from what I gather was an intelligent autodidact with strong opinions. He just seemed so different from the stereotype that most people had of players at the turn of the century. I know I'm not alone in saying this, but I think I'd have really enjoyed his company.
