I enjoy these posts to see where others would spend their money. For me, I’ve looked at second year cards to continue to grow my collection with skyrocketing prices.
For example, a mid-grade second year Aaron or Clemente would both be under $1000. I don’t feel the Clemente rookie has seen as meteoric a rise as some of the others from the same era, and the 56 is a nice looking card.
Also, not his second year, but a nice centered 1971 Nolan Ryan with sharp black borders would still leave you room to buy others.
Finally, I look at the Future Hall of Fame Eligibles to see what players are coming down the pike that are likely to get in. Some are obvious (like Jeter and Mariano were). May be able to get their RC’s before they bump (or bump further.
