This year I'm limiting myself to three goals. Hopefully I can stick to it.
1. Upgrade a dozen or so cards that bother me in my 71 Topps ungraded set.
2. Complete a couple of full runs of autograph cards I've been working on. One card left for Monte Irvin and one for Larry Doby. A few other sets need two or three.
3. Hunt down some cards in a fairly obscure Japanese gum pack set I'm working on. There are 120 or so cards in the set, a handful of which are still unknown or at least not reported on any checklist. I have 64 of the cards including 8 of the 12 short-run cards (working theory). I'm hoping to add 5-10 this year.

This. This. This. Every year I say I'm going to sell or give away loads of accumulated cards that really don't speak to me. But I never do...just too much work. If I were smart, I would just admit that I probably won't unload that stuff but I could STOP BUYING things that I don't really need.
