When I started collecting I hung out at a local dealer. (77-83 ish) It wasn't uncommon for them to hand me a solid VG Goudey Ruth and say "It's $100 you should buy it". Probably happened 10-15 times....

What the hell was I doing then? Buying 1969-1972 Topps commons trying to finish sets. I could've dropped $100 on a Ruth. But that's only one card and I can have hundreds of cards if not thousands for that price. DUH!
