I would think somebody bidding 1/2 million+ bucks on a card could be bothered to enlarge the pictures (or send a request to see bigger pictures) to see exactly what they're getting, regardless of what the number says on the slab.
Dave, the problem here is this. With all the new un-educated money flowing in and the new buyer groups comes inexperience. They may have looked at the back and seen the paper loss as its very evident but they might not even understand the consequences of that loss. To them it might just be a minor blemish or it might mean nothing to them. As in, "we have so much money we just want this card. It's slabbed so it must be correct!"

Scary thoughts for sure but I'll bet if you quizzed all this new money they could not run off the grade scale like most of us could: Poor, Fair, Good, VG, VG-EX, EX EX/MT..... you get the picture.......all they see is a number and cards that have been setting records.

These groups and buyers are as far away from "Buy the Card not the holder" than you can get. Their new motto appears to be "Buy the Holder......not the card" and thier piles of cash makes up for the mistakes they make along the way!

Crazy world indeed!

Peace, Mike
