That tax threshold has gone up and down with every administration for ever.
Both sides debate it and usually find common ground.
Scaremongering what it will before there is ANY indication of that outcome is dumb in my opinion.

Should I start in now on possible takes by prospective candidates for Presidency at the next election and how they could affect the tax treatment of collectables?

This administration has been in government how long?
Comparing the positions laid out as their preferred agenda pre election (or what is speculated as being the agenda by certain media outlets) and what will get done through the passage of legislation is folly.
