Nah, it's been referred to as the "Ty Cobb Bank" for decades. Not a recent phenomenon at all. Even major auction houses have sold them under that name.

I agree that it's generic in nature (and bears very little resemblance to Cobb). But that's the moniker it was given many years ago, which somehow managed to stick and become the hobby norm.
