Barry Sloate bought the Foster collection years ago, and he and I have discussed the scorebooks issue at some length, but I was then, and still am, interested to see if somewhere in Sports News there might be a more detailed discussion of the actual years included in the collection.
My own interest stems from the fact that I have the complete 1889 volume. A wonderful tool for researchers, it includes pre season games, partial rainout games and even post season exhibition games with snow on the ground. Plus, I can see what Samuel L. Thompson did in every single time at bat from Raleigh to Scranton in Harry's own meticulous hand.
I will ask the Net54 members one more question: Has anyone ever seen or handled a Harry Wright scorebook from the 1890 season? Or later?
