Definitely prefer the standard size 3x4 top loader.
I may be alone here, but I always found sleeves a hindrance. It wouldn't matter for my T cards because they have soft dull corners, but I've damaged more Topps cards than I can remember trying to slide them into a penny sleeve. It's why any card I plan to keep goes in a semi rigid holder versus a rigid top loader.
The SGC insert I cut holds the card nicely and their excellent design of corners being cut out keeps the corners safe.
