The provenance is established in many ways, for example: 1) from the letters from the players that came with the autographs; 2) from interaction with the family and estate (the family and the estate is not anonymous to the AH or the grading company); 3) from the collection being obtained at the home of the collector; 4) from the detailed documentation with this collection that was also like no other collection. These are just some of the ways that a provenance is determined. There are many aspects to estate management, auction sales, record-keeping, and chain of command records that further document and memorialize a provenance.
