I'm a high school teacher. Unfortunately, I have had multiple students over the years that had college athletic scholarships lost because they participated in illegal activities. For whatever reason, they cannot look far enough into the future to realize the negative impacts of these types of incidents.
Baker signed a $10.5 million dollar contract last year, and who knows what else he could make later on? If he is convicted, he will probably end up paying back most of his signing bonus, losing the contract, losing his NFL career, and serving several years in prison. Sadly, there are a few players every year that make these unfortunate choices.
