Default 1961 Little Rock Travelers

The Orioles Class AA affiliate in 1961 was located in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Travelers played in the Southern Association and finished with a record of 80-73. Compared to a few of the other O's affiliates, the Travelers played to a huge average crowd of 1,782.

The team featured a bunch of names that should be familiar to most die hard O's fans. Some played for the Orioles themselves and a few made their name for other teams. These included Cal Ripken Sr, Pat Gillick and Bo Belinsky, Jim Fridley and Bob Nelson. If I remember right, Little Rock produced another pretty good ballplayer.

Other team members to play in Baltimore included Jim Lehew, Dave Nicholson, John Papa, Pete Ward and Bob Saverine.

Plus one, Arne Thorsland, who didn't make it any higher than AAA.
