That is a good point, and I presented this as a question because I am not sure but wanted to see what people thought.

In the better image that Mark posted, the margins of that spot look pretty sharp, like maybe they actually are something on the card that was later removed.

And these images are all so bad that it is going to be hard to tell.

The spot on the top of the frame still looks like it was filled in though.
