On May 12 1984, Jim Palmer was used in mop up duty by pitching the last two innings (surrendering 4 runs) of a 12-2 drubbing at the hands of the Oakland A's.

That game turned out to be the last time Cakes ever appeared in a Major League Game.

Here is home plate umpire Rick Reed's lineup card from that game...A couple years ago I had Jim signed & inscribe it:
