Rare (only one I've ever seen), original 1904 Opening Day invitation, New York Giants vs. Philadelphia at the Polo Grounds, April 21st, 1904. Christy Mathewson pitched in a loss.
The invitation has a fold and opens like a card, which leads me to believe these were mailed out to invitees with a ticket (or voucher) inside.
Condition is good for age. It has the original fold, plus another fold perhaps from being put in a pocket on game day. There are paper remnants on the reverse, possible scrapbook removal. Minor age toning, and a couple of stains. There is also a 1/4" tear at the fold on the right edge of the front of the invitation.
Size is 5.5" x 7" closed.
Really nice piece of early NY Giants and ticket history.
