As you can see on the front, the rows alternate direction; one row is right-side-up, while the next row is upside-down.
While the backs are also printed in alternating directions, the backs alternate horizontally, while the fronts alternate vertically.
This explains why different cards have the backs going in the opposite direction from others, as compared to the fronts.
