That is standard, IMO. If it's snapping and actually putting a dent in the card surface, you're probably opening the lip way too wide. I actually relax the grip on the side of the cardsaver once the card is in about an inch and centered in the holder, then just push it down from the top edge. But I also penny sleeve all my cards, so the lip of the cardsaver touching the surface doesn't hurt the card.
