“Drafted by the Twins in 1975, Christmas (who was actually born in December), played parts of three seasons with the Reds, White Sox and Cubs. Though he struggled, going 1-for-17 in his rookie season and 6-for-37 in his career, he had a brief moment of glory in 1984.
While with the White Sox, Christmas hit his only big league home run. Naturally, it was a tie-breaking, pinch-hit, three-run shot against the Twins on Sept. 19. I guess you could call it a Christmas miracle.”
