Please clarify the “Hugging” rule for me
Runners on first and second with one out
Ball hit on the ground to Arenado, who tags Baez on his way to third.
Baez then hugs Arenado preventing a throw to second or first for an inning ending double play.
Shouldn’t there be a rule that may have been broken by Baez?
The result of the play was inconsequential in this case, but what if the next Cubbie hit one onto Waveland Av, leading to a Cub win.
The umpires huddled briefly scratching their crotches. Bud Black didn’t protest. Arenado didn’t seem upset that he didn’t get a kiss as well as the hug from Baez.
Baserunner harassment should be illegal in my opinion. You should only be able to hug players on your own team.
